In Dallas, Uber may match an UberX, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric request with an Avride Hyundai Ioniq 5 once you opt in to autonomous rides.

Uber says the cars run across Central Dallas north of the Trinity River. An onboard specialist sits behind the wheel during this first phase.

The ride, in order

  1. In the Uber app, open Account, Settings, Ride Preferences, Autonomous vehicles, and turn it on.
  2. Request UberX, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric inside the service area.
  3. If Uber matches you with an Avride, you get a ride offer.Tap Accept ride.
  4. Check the plate and model against the app, then tap Unlock car in the Uber app.
