Trust percent more than miles
The mile estimate is optimistic on highway and cold days. Plan stops from battery percent. Below about 20% start looking; try not to arrive under 10% at a busy site.

From
Everyone comes to their first electric drive from somewhere different. Tell us where you are and we will match the help to you, nothing more.
You know your way around. We will surface only the two things worth a refresher on this exact car, then get out of your way and into the plan.
Not a manual. Just the few things about this car that surprise people, calibrated to where you put the dial.

Port, key, and a few things that bite on ID.4. Not a manual. Just what makes the next hour feel normal.

Find Drive, feel regen in a quiet street, and confirm walk-away lock once. After that the car is just a car. Everything else is percent, plugs, and return time.
ID.4 gear selector is a slim stalk on the right of the wheel. Brake in, twist or rock to D/R as marked. Park is a button. The first minute is orientation, not a bug.
Unlock with the fob or handle sensors if equipped. The car is ready when the dash wakes and you can select Drive. No separate ignition step.
CCS cars that want Superchargers need a DC adapter. NACS cars usually plug straight in. Check the glovebox and trunk organizer before you leave the lot so you are not surprised at the first stall.
First fifteen minutes
Do these in the lot or a quiet street when you can. This is the calm before the day math.
The good stuff
The one calm layer that answers the only three questions that matter: will I make it, where do I stop, and how long there. Move the sliders and watch it recompute.
about 205 mi (±10%) · model + weather
Illustrative. Range is derated for highway speed (~82% of the sticker) and today's conditions, with a ~15% arrival cushion. Live weather sharpens this once your town or destination is set.

Two jobs · first stall vs return
Those are different jobs. Photo the gauge. Do not sit to 100. Named start: Electrify America · Downtown Miami.
Corridor seed · verify open hours in Maps · not live stall status.
First plug without looking clueless
Stop times match the day verdict. Mountain trips name outbound and return legs. On non-Tesla public networks about 1 in 7 charge attempts still goes wrong · Superchargers fail far less. Not live stall availability.
Surfaced when they matter

The desk sets the return % at pickup. Right now you are at about 70%. When in doubt, photograph the gauge at pickup and match it at return.
