Illustrative. Range is derated for highway speed (~82% of the sticker) and today's conditions, with a ~15% arrival cushion. A real build would pull live range and elevation for your exact route.

Near your last stop or airport approach
Drive there is fine (arrive ~57%). Return wants ask at pickup. Skip optional 80% sessions unless you need idle-habit top-up earlier.
- Pull into a Supercharger stall and open the charge port (button on the handle or screen).
- Plug in. On many brand rentals the car bills the account on the car automatically; no app open needed.
- Unplug around 80%. The last 20% is slow, and idle fees can start after a short grace.
If a stall errors, try the neighbor stall before you assume the site is down.

Your return-charge target at drop-off
Ask whoever you rented from for their return-charge rule, and snap the gauge at pickup so there is never a dispute. Rules vary by desk. When in doubt, photograph the gauge at pickup and match it at return. You told us you return it Friday.Water on the road is a no-go in heavy rain / king tides
King tides, summer downpours, and low coastal streets can put salt water over roadways. Do not drive a rental EV through flooded blocks; water at the floor tray is an insurance and safety problem. Reroute, wait it out, move the car to higher garage levels if a flood warning hits while parked. If a named storm is in play, change the plan Jun-Nov when storms threaten
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1-Nov 30. For a short rental: follow local emergency guidance, do not drive out on a hope charge, and confirm desk storm policies early. If the weekend is under a watch or warning, prioritize return SOC and early return options over sightseeing miles.Humidity makes AC a constant load in heat
Miami heat is not Phoenix dry heat, but AC runs hard and public DC can still throttle on the worst afternoons. Precool while plugged in when you can, prefer shade or garage parking, and keep a mid-day Supercharger option (Brickell, Beach, Wynwood, Coral Gables) if you beach-hop all day.Salt air is fine for a weekend; rinse habits help near the beach
Oceanfront parking leaves salt film on glass, cameras, and charge-port seals. You do not need a full detail mid-rental. If you beach-park overnight, wipe the charge port area before you plug in, and avoid high-pressure spray into the port.Move your car when it is done when charging finishes
The moment charging completes, an idle fee can start ($0.40 to $1.00 per minute), and a busy Supercharger adds a congestion fee. There is usually a 5 minute grace to unplug. This is exactly why we nudge you to stop at 80% and walk back before it finishes.Ask before you book
